For many years, the annual Dar es Salaam course has trained young surgeons and nurses in essential, up-to-date techniques and evidence-based management. Initially developed as a neurotrauma course, the 2026 program—taking place April 20–22—represents a true international collaboration between the Muhimbili Orthopaedic Institute, Weill Cornell Medicine, and the North American Spine Society (NASS). This year’s curriculum adopts a comprehensive, 360° approach to global spine care, emphasizing the critical link between non-operative management and surgical technique. While maintaining our popular "train the trainer" model and practical sessions—including sawbones boot camps and live ICU cases on critical care management—the course has expanded to cover Tumor, Trauma, Scoliosis, Infection, Degenerative disease, and Minimally Invasive Spine Surgery (MISS). Residents will continue to benefit from live surgery and practicals to learn the finest skills from global experts.
